Through the Garden Gate- House #13

Steep slopes presented a problem for both the front and back yards of this homes landscapes.

Landscapers were brought in to create low, dry stone walls that created a terraced garden and the owners filled it with perennials and shrubs in pink, blue, purple and white such as deutzia, foamflowers, crabapples, creeping phlox, catmint, peonies, irises and azaleas.

Similar stone walls were built in the back and a cistern was installed to catch run off from any rain storms.  Mature trees create very shady conditions perfect for coral bells, pink spireas, rhododendrons and Japanese maple.
