We all had that one grandparent who had THAT jar of candy.  Hard brittle cubes of colourful sugar usually so old that they stuck together in one massive clump.  Yet we could never resist that pure sugar rush. We reached in, snapped a sample off and quickly popped it in our mouths.

The minute you walk into Papabubble Toronto on Yonge Street you are equally nostalgic for the memories these tiny artisan candies invoke and in Willy Wonka awe at the colours and smells that fill this sweet little shop.

All it took was a little pregnancy downtime and the passion to be their own bosses in an industry both lacking in Toronto and infinitely creative, that brought childhood friends Jennifer Liu and Catherine Chan to the world of Papabubble international.  With franchises across the world Toronto was the perfect next step to its introduction to North America.

Hiring candy makers Charlene Giasson and Calandra Bond, brilliant Craigslist finds, the foursome immersed themselves for three months to learn the unique craft of personalized and artistic candies with a master candy maker from Spain.

Everything is made in house and customized for the season or the client. Sugar is boiled, poured, coloured, flavoured and molded into a massive round of candy which is then pulled and cut.  At any given time visitors to the store can watch the magic happen right before their eyes. While the candies are the specialities personalized lollipops and other treats are available.
