Difficult to grow.

  • Flowers: White, yellow, purple, orange and red. Blooms 1 or 2 times per year for 2 weeks.
  • Soil/Potting Preference: A fine mix of fir bark with ½ to 1 cm pieces of bark, perlite and charcoal. Moss may be added to retain moisture. Prefers plastic pots.
  • Watering: Water every morning.
  • Fertilizing: Use 1/8 strength once a week.
  • Light Requirement: Low to medium light levels with 1 to 3 hours direct light.
  • Temperature Requirements: Species specific.
  • coccinea, decumana, ignea: 10°C minimum nights, 20°C maximum days.
  • herradurae, strobelli, veitchiana: 13°C minimum nights, 23°C maximum days.
  • floribunda, tonduzii, tovarensis: 16°C minimum nights, 26°C maximum days.
  • Humidity Requirements: 70 to 90%
