Chocolate Chip Scones

Scones are a great alternative to muffins at breakfast.  These ones are particularly kid friendly.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 5 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup butter, cubed
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line cookie sheets with foil.
  2. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in large bowl.
  3. Using a pastry blender cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add the egg, milk and chocolate chips.
  5. Stir everything together until it's well combined.
  6. Drop by 1/2 cup measures on prepared pans.
  7. Bake in preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until golden. Let cool.
