Baked Mozzarella Sticks

Here is a skinny-ed up version of a favorite finger food.  Don’t forget to pair it with a great marinara sauce.

Serves per 3 sticks.

Baked Mozzarella Sticks

The addition of chili powder gives a little kick to the mozzarella sticks.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup panko bread crumbs, toasted
  • 3 cheese strings, cut into 1" pieces
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a shallow both mix together the chili powder and panko.
  3. In another bowl beat the egg. Dip the cheese into the egg mixture.
  4. Carefully roll the cheese into the bread then place on prepared cookie sheet. The best to transfer the cheese sticks is to grab them by each end so the breading doesn't slip off. You can always sprinkle so crumbs on any bare spots.
  5. Bake for 3 minutes or until golden and just beginning to melt.
