Art in Paradise

Art in the Park RBG 2009 (2)It took me almost tripping over a pair of stone dogs to realize something was happening at the Royal Botanical Gardens.  I absolutely love perennials, perennial gardens, flowers, flower gardens….well you get the idea…so when I paid a visit to the park last week my mind was definitely focused on one thing.  I was glad that I stumbled on ‘Digging Dogs’ early in my day so I could enjoy the Art in Paradise exhibit that is running from July to Thanksgiving.

Separated in 3 categories and spread throughout the different garden areas of the RBG this event hosts world renown artists whose works express the many connections of people, society and nature.

In the Rock Garden you can experience Sound Art where guests can play interactive musical sculptures.  Amazingly powerful and playful sculptures dot the grounds at Hendrie Park, the Arboretum and the Rock Garden for the art installation Sculpt Art while Earth Art blends art with nature and nature with art.

While some of the works were a bit haunting and others rather obscure, I really enjoyed the mix of culture and nature that surprised me around many corners as I walked through the gardens.

Try to take some time out this summer to experiences something different, thought provoking and undeniably entertaining by visiting this wonderful event.
