Chocolate Covered Tuxedo Strawberries

Today is National Chocolate Covered Anything Day.

Much like anything battered and fried, anything covered in chocolate is great too. Except bugs.
Visually these are so cool.

Chocolate Covered Tuxedo Strawberries

  • 1 pound or about 18 fresh strawberries
  • 200 grams dark premium chocolate, chopped
  • 40 grams of white chocolate, chopped
  • 1. Wash the strawberries thoroughly leaving the green tops on. Dry the strawberries so no water is left on them.
    2. Melt the white chocolate in a bowl. You can do this in the microwave but remember that chocolate will burn so only try 15 seconds, stir then another 15 until completely melted.
    3. Skewer the strawberry tops with a small fork and dip into the melted chocolate. Cover the whole strawberry except for a 1/4? of red around the top.
    4. Place on a waxed paper lined pan and repeat with the other strawberries.
    5. Put the pan in the fridge for 10 minutes to harden the chocolate.
    6. While they are hardening, melt the dark chocolate in a bowl.
    7. Remove the strawberries from the fridge.
    8. Dip the strawberry in the dark chocolate on an angle then again on the opposite angle. Shake the strawberry gently so there is a straight line.
    9. Using a wooden skewer dipped in the chocolate carefully draw on the bow tie and buttons with more chocolate.
