Today is National Chocolate Pecan Pie Day and National Lemonade Day. Add a cup of vodka to make a drink for the “big kids”. You need:If you don’t have a juicer here’s a trick to squeeze the lemons by hand and not get any seeds in the juice.
Start with your lemon.
Roll it around a hard surface for a bit, pressing into the fruit to soften it up. This helps break down the pulp inside.
Slice the lemon in half.
Take one half and place it cut side down in the palm of your hand.
While you are squeezing the lemon the seeds will get trapped in your hand while the juices run through your fingers. (Remember to have clean hands before starting this.)
Continue with all the lemons until you have 1 cup of juice. This took approximately 8 lemons. Pour the juice into a jug or pitcher.
Meanwhile add your cup of sugar to the cup of water in a small saucepan.
Over medium heat cook the liquid until the sugar is completely dissolved then allow it to cool.
Once the sugar water is cool pour it into the jug with the lemon juice.
Add 3-4 cups of cold water, stirring and tasting as you add until you get the sweetness you prefer. Serve in a tall glass with a lemon slice on the side.
Homemade Lemonade1. In a saucepan over low heat stir together the water and sugar until dissolved. Let cool. Today is National Tequila Day. Tequila Sunrise1. Pour tequila in a glass with ice and top with orange juice. Today is National Pina Colada Day. Made with fresh coconut and pineapple I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Pina Colada1. Pour all of the ingredients into a blender and puree for several seconds. |
